Installing the Seko AKS Dosing Pump
PPE REQUIRED
- It is recommended that installers wear the required PPE.
- Please ensure that the clothing worn is certified to fully protect the operator from accidental chemical splash events.
- At a minimum, rubber gloves, safety shoes/boots, and safety goggles should be worn.
WALL MOUNTING THE AKS DOSING PUMP
- The Tekna EVO AKS pump unit is a wall-mounted electromagnetic (solenoid-driven) pump.
- The unit is ideally mounted above the fluid level to operate in a self-priming configuration.
- WARNING:- Do not install under the supply tank fluid level,
- It is not recommended to install the pump in an area exposed to the elements.
AKS DOSING PUMP SUCTION FOOT/NON-RETURN FILTER VALVE
- The suction foot filter valve is easily attached to the suction tube.
- Attach the tube to the pump’s inlet (Bottom port) using the supplied tube fittings. (Hand tighten only)
- Measure and cut the softer PVC tubing to the length needed so that the suction foot filter valve will hang from the pump to the floor of the chemical supply drum/tank.
- Attach the suction foot filter valve to the PVC tube. (Hand tighten only)
- Attach a length of the PVC tubing to the priming/air bleed valve on the side of the pump head and lead that tube back to the chemical supply drum/tank.
AKS DOSING PUMP INJECTION VALVE
- The injection valve must be installed in the discharge tubing, even if not attached to a bulk fluid pipe system.
- The injection valve helps reduce siphoning, but it is not an anti-siphoning valve. (Correct installation of the dosing pump system and the correct MOC of the valve O rings/seals are paramount in arresting siphoning)
- Connect the PE discharge tubing (HARD OPAQUE) to the top discharge port of the pump with the supplied fittings. (Hand tight)
- Screw the dosing pump injection valve into a 1/2″ threaded T or saddle assembled in the main bulk water pipe.
- Attach the PE tube from the AKS Dosing pump discharge port to the injection valve with the supplied fittings. (Hand tighten)
PRIMING THE AKS DOSING PUMP
- The SEKO AKS DOSING PUMP is fully tested by the factory prior to shipping.
- When removing the protective RED seals from the pump’s suction and discharge, be aware that the unit will be filled with test fluid at neutral pH.
- The unit will generally prime automatically 90% of installations.
- When priming is required, please ensure that safety glasses, appropriate chemical-resistant clothing, and safety shoes are worn.
- Connect a 10ml syringe to a short piece of tubing to the bleed valve.
- Ensure the suction valve/filter is immersed in the chemical drum below the pump.
- Turn the priming screw attached to the priming connection on the pump head toward you by only two turns.
- Carefully pull back on the syringe, watching the tubing for chemicals as they are drawn into the syringe. (NOTE: if priming acids, please use a longer length of priming tubing so you are able to immediately stop drawing the acid into the syringe and safely complete the priming procedure.)
- Once fluid is in the priming tube or syringe, turn the priming screw clockwise to close. One does not need to apply super strength to close this; the priming attachment is sealed by a double O-ring assembly and closes easily.
How to Set the SEKO AKS Dosing Pump Flow Rate.
- The unit is designed for continuous dosing with manual flow-rate adjustment.
- The unit allows the operator to set the dosing rate, which is continuous if set on the pump program interface alone. (0-100% by turning the potentiometer)
- The selector button lets you choose either the full 0 to 100% range or the reduced 0 to 20% range.
